About
Wannabe polymath. Full-time caffeinator.
Hi, I’m Abdullah Alhussni — a recent graduate (May 2026) of NYU Abu Dhabi with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics.
My capstone, under Prof. Marwa Chafii and Dr. Roberto Bomfin, built a privacy-preserving activity recognition system using multi-band Channel State Information from the FR3 spectrum, covering the full pipeline from SDR data collection through signal preprocessing to ML classification. I also spent over a year at the Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS), working on topological quantum computing, optimizing Dynamic Nuclear Polarization pulse sequences on HPC clusters, and co-authoring a publication on quantum sensing. Separately, I worked with the Gelfand Research Group analyzing variable stars in dwarf galaxy IC 10.
I’m drawn to problems at the intersection of hardware and mathematical optimization — FPGA design, embedded systems, and power electronics. Outside the lab, I served as Lead Ambassador at NYU Abu Dhabi Admissions and President of the Lantern Subcommittee (MSA). In September, I’ll begin my M.Sc. through the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMIMEP) in Microwave Electronics and Photonics across the University of Limoges and the University of Brescia.
